Filmakademie at ITFS 2014

SCHOOL PRESENTATION

In the 23rd year of its existence, the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg still teaches and produces with the motto “learning by doing.” The students learn how to make films by making films: They write scripts, create sets, film or direct, create animation, motion graphics, and visual effects, compose soundtracks, or work on sound design, editing, and assembly. That is how around 250 films of all genres are created annually and shown regularly – not just at film festivals.
This afternoon, you will have the opportunity to experience the newest animated films from the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg on the big screen and, besides that, you can meet the filmmakers and associates.
Whether it’s classical animation, interactive apps, creating title and moving pictures, visual effects, or powerful film experiments: At the Filmakademie, the entire spectrum of animated films is represented.

Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, Cinematic Experience 1 & 2

Cinematic Experience at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg is a subject which all lower-level students can take – in the first year as a requirement – and in the second year as an elective course. Experimenting is not only allowed here, it’s expressly encouraged. Without the typical guidelines and limits of the market, the cinematic experience course conveys the approaches and methods of contemporary media. Taking many formal – often underrepresented – approaches into consideration, the students develop short films with unusual and unique ways of telling stories. Under these conditions, every year a series of filmatic jewels are created which impress by virtue of their individual expressive forms.

Motion Design

The advanced project study program concentration MOTION DESIGN qualifies designers, art directors, and promotion producers for positions of responsibility in media and creative companies. The audio-visual design of motion graphics and typography, logos and openers, promotion trailers and music videos, are essential elements of media production – whether linear or non-linear.  Besides realizing their own independent projects, at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, motion designers have the opportunity to work closely with authors, directors, producers, animators, set designers, sound designers, and composers – from the planning phase up to the final product.
