A one-day academic symposium held at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film 2013 in collaboration with the Society of Animation Studies, the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, the Institute of Media Studies at Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, the AG Animation and the Literaturhaus Stuttgart.

The symposium is negotiating the interdisciplinary influences between literature, comics and animation. It brings together international scholars, students, academics and artists from diverse fields of research and professional practice to create an interdisciplinary dialogue.
Today comic characters and stories not only serve as source material for major Hollywood blockbusters, but the forms also undergo a continuous transformation in commercial and avant-garde art: New hybrid forms are emerging, which creatively combine narrative aspects and formal elements in entirely new ways.

The symposium will be highly interdisciplinary and international in nature, bringing together highly renowned scholars, students, academics and artists from diverse fields of research and professional practice.

The symposium will start at 09.30 in the morning, with morning sessions running until 13.00 followed by a 1 hours lunch break.
Afternoon sessions will resume at 14.00, the symposium will end at 18.30.
