Un monstre à Paris (A Monster in Paris)

Eric Bergeron, France 2011

A strange creature is frightening 1910 Paris. This is the fault of Emile, a shy projectionist and Raoul, a mad inventor. They have accidently created this being. So the two friends set out to put things right. During their adventure which is full of surprises, they meet the beautiful, warm-hearted singer, Lucille. Instead of chasing the monster off, Lucille hides him. Soon Emile and Raoul realise that this supposedly terrifying monster is actually quite harmless and needs to be protected from the unscrupulous chief of the Parisian police.

Pequeñas Voces (Little Voices)

Jairo Carrillo, Colombia 2010, 75 Min.

More than a million children live in Colombia who are the victims of a civil war which has been raging for years. How do these children experience the war and can they speak of it at all? "Little Voices" succeeds in helping them to do this. The film raises its strong voice by allowing four children, aged between eight and thirteen to tell their story. Animated children’s drawings illustrate their experience and report on the all too early end of a carefree childhood. The children tell of their hopes and dreams and describe their terrible experience as child soldiers or bomb victims. A ruined childhood is perhaps not the first victim of war, but most certainly one of the worst.

Arrugas (Wrinkles)

Ignacio Ferreras, Spain 2011, 89 Min.

The film portrays the friendship between Emilio and Miguel, two aged gentlemen shut away in a care home. Recent arrival Emilio, in the early stages of Alzheimer, is helped by Miguel and colleagues to avoid ending up on the feared top floor of the care home, also known as the lost causes or ‘assisted’ floor. Their wild plan infuses their otherwise tedious day-to-day with humour and tenderness, because although for some their lives is coming to an end, for them it is just beginning.

Jock of the Bushveld (3D)

Duncan MacNeillie, South Africa 2011, 80 Min.

Jock, the hero of the film, is confident, happy, curious and fearless. However, this was not the case in the beginning: when he was born he was the weakest puppy in the litter. But thanks to his loyal and fierce character he not only becomes the best and most faithful friend of his master, farmer Fitz, but also has many adventures in the African bush with other animals and humans.
An inspiring and funny story with wonderfully animated pictures in 3D.
