Treffpunkt Rotebühlplatz: Exhibition – Die Trickfilmwelt von Thilo Graf Rothkirch

The tribute to the director, graphic artist and producer Thilo Graf Rothkirch shows graphics, illustrations and hand-painted trick film films for his films like “The Little Polar Bear” or series like “Otto der Straßenhund”. The exhibition was created in cooperation with vhs stuttgart.

Breuninger: Wall of Animation 2 – Augmented Reality

The Breuninger wall is again dominated by the ITFS this year. In the festival week you can discover a lot here and maybe even meet old friends. Take a look, bring your smartphone with you and let yourself be surprised by who is waiting for you between real and digital world.

Stadtbibliothek: Noodling with Paint – Videoinstallation by Paul Barritt

Paul Barritt’s animation films and drawings are characterized by a minimalistic visual language, his iconography is mysterious, his films are both playful and burlesque at the same time. Thus they exert a hypnotic fascination on the viewer, of which you can convince yourself in the Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart.

Mercedes-Benz Museum: Family Sunday

The Mercedes-Benz Museum and the ITFS offer for the first time a preliminary program of the festival with special highlights. In the morning, you will learn how Trickfilm works and how to create your own stories.

The Oscar-nominated stop-motion animation film tells the story of orphan children who are on the way to steer their lives in a quieter way. Afterwards workshops on sound design, music and animation take place! The entrance to the long film as well as the workshop afterwards is free.

During the Festival

Gerber meets ITFS

Gerber Upstairs will host an exciting programme for visitors, focusing on animtaion. We invite children and families to experience small animated adventures in workshops, and to immerse themselves in the world of animation with animated films from the Tricks for Kids programme. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Right on time for the end of the workday, the Gerber Trickfilm-Lounge opens with different “animated” activities every day, such as animated music videos with a live band, lectures on animation, games and virtual effects, plus the best short films of the ITFS, etc.

Free admission, no registration needed.

Café le Théâtre: The Festival meeting point

The Café le Théâtre is the festival meeting point! Here we invite you to the daily filmmaker-talk: Filmmakers of the competition program will answer questions. In addition, the Movie Package provides a special lunch offer for you and in the evening there is live music at the jam sessions in cooperation with the jazzopen.

Das Mitte: Crazy Horse Session – 48h Animation Jam

Five international teams of two people develop an animation film with Trixi, our festival mascot, within 48 hours. Come to the Jugendhaus Mitte and watch live how the artists animate their films.

Music & Animation: Cat and Mouse

Paul Barritt presents his new show “Cat and Mouse” with live music from Officer Pub. Experience animation and theater with an animated cat and mouse and a band of dogs.

Live music, theatrical means, crazy cartoons, high-speed action, fun and exhilaration, building moments, skeletons, dogs, dancing and much more! Before “Cat and Mouse” premieres in London in June, the ITFS brings the cartoon show for an evening as an exclusive prelude to Ludwigsburg. Age recommendation: from 18 years onwards.
