Ponyo, the goldfish girl, dreams of becoming human – much to the disapproval of her father, an underwater magician. With the help of her magical powers she actually manages to escape from the colourful sea world and ends up ashore where she is rescued by Sosuke, a young fisher boy. Their friendship grows and Ponyo wish to stay with him. However, Ponyo’s powers seem to turn the oceans loose and cause natural catastrophes, which threatens Sosuke’s village. Will Ponyo and Sosuke manage to restore the balance in the world and save the villagers?

However, the sleep sheep brings Scheerbart’s grandson Miko, a shy six-year-old, into the land of dreams. Together they set off on an adventure in which Miko has to confront his fears – for this is the only way they can defeat Habumar the thief and save the dreams. The supermarket manager also has his problems. On a moonlit night, the storylines converge in a teahouse near the city rampart.
