The Festival focus is on artistic animated films, innovations in the field of interactive and transmedia projects, as well as the promotion of young talent. A total of up to € 65,000 in prize money is awarded in the various competition sections.

The AniX Awards, taking place on Thursday, 25th April at 7:00 PM in the Festival Centre, is the industry’s platform showcasing the German Animation Screenplay Awards, the Trickstar Business Award, and the ASIFA Prize. On Sunday, 28th April at 7:00 PM, the grand ITFS Awards Ceremony will be held, featuring the Grand Prix alongside the Lotte Reiniger Prize, the Student Competition prize, the Trickstar Nature Award, AniMovie prizes, and the Animated Games Award Germany. The Tricks for Kids Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, 28th April at 3:30 PM on the main open-air stage.

The International Competition is the Festival’s centrepiece, presenting artistic animated films of the previous twelve months.

  • Grand Prix: State of Baden-Württemberg and the City of Stuttgart Grand Award for Animated Film with a cash prize of 10,000 €.
  • Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award for Animated Film:Award for the best graduation film with a cash prize of 10,000 €, sponsored by MFG Film Funding Baden-Württemberg.
  • Audience Award:
    The ITFS Audience Award with a cash prize of 6,000 €, sponsored by SWR (regional broadcasting for southwest Germany).

The student competition presents the best films by students at international film, art and media schools and universities.

  • Best Film in Student Competition:
    Award for the best student film with a cash prize of 2,500 €, sponsored by the LFK Landesanstalt für Kommunikation Baden-Württemberg and MFG Film Funding Baden-Württemberg.

The Tricks for Kids children’s film festival presents entertaining, outstanding animated films and series for children.

  • Award for the best children’s animated film with a cash prize of 4,000 €, sponsored by Studio 100 Media.
  • Tricks for Kids Audience Award:
    Award for the audience’s favourite of the ITFS Children’s Film Festival with a cash prize of 1,500 €, sponsored by L-Bank.

Award for the best animated feature film.

Award for the best international animated short film that deals with the topics of climate protection, biodiversity, environment and sustainability, with a cash prize of 7,500 €, sponsored by Verband Region Stuttgart.

  • Award for the best German screenplay for an animated feature film with a cash prize of 2,500 €, sponsored by Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart (AMCRS).
  • Award for the German screenplay with the biggest international market potential with a cash prize of 1,500 €, sponsored by Pink Parrot Media.

Award for the best animation based German computer game with a cash prize of 5,000 €, sponsored by MFG Film Funding Baden-Württemberg.
