The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film and its artistic director Ulrich Wegenast will give various presentations from January 12-29, 2010 in Asia.

From January 12-17 Wegenast will give workshops on the German animation scene and its history as well a broad overview on the European festival landscape at the National Yun-lin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan. The programmes „Best of Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film „International Selection“ and „Regional Selection“ will be featured in the Digital Media Design Center of the Yun-lin University, too. He also will give an insight view on production and financing of animated short films, feature films and series in Germany and its funding situation.

In cooperation with the Goethe Institute Singapur he will give talks at the Nan Nangang Technological University – School of Art, Design & Media from January 18-24). Besides a lecture on the German Animation History and workshops with the students he will show „The Best of Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film“-reel on Friday, January, from 7-8:30 pm in the Auditorium of the School of Art, Design & Media. Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University will be cooperation partners for the upcoming 17th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film taking place from May 4-9, 2010.

For the first time the Thai Film Foundation and the Goethe Institute Bangkok will feature a „German Short Film and Animation Showcase“ from January 20-27 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center. Heinz Hermanns from the Berlin Interfilm Festival will also present some new short film programmes. Ulrich Wegenast will do a two day workshop and will show various programmes including „The Best of“-Compilation of the Stuttgart Festival and programmes on German Animation History (Between State Art and Underground – Animation in the GDR, Contemporaries – German Animation from 1989 until now).
