The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film on tour!

Since 2006, the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has been organizing a yearly tour programme with a selection of some of the best animated films from the previous Festival. The programme is presented worldwide and comprises: Best of International Competition, the BW reel with the best animations made in the German region of Baden-Württemberg and Best of Tricks for Kids.

The Best of ITFS 2017 Tour Program starts in October, the first dates are available shortly.

Best of International Competition 2017

… is a collection of some of the best animated shorts from the International Competition of the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film 2017. The selected films are thoughtful, critical and touching, hilarious, witty and humorous. Every single film reflects the enormous variety of topics, techniques and forms of expression as well as the extraordinary and imaginative creativity that makes the world of animated film so rich and exciting.

Best of Tricks for Kids – The children’s film festival of ITFS on tour

Tricks for Kids is the children’s film festival of ITFS. It not only shows extraordinary animated short and feature films as well as series from all over the world but also invites the kids to join attractive workshops in the Mercedes Benz Museum and to play exciting games in the GameZone on Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz. Best of Tricks for Kids presents a selection of the most beautiful animated shorts for children which have been screened at ITFS17.

Best of Baden Württemberg

…offers a visual and topical tour of the multifaceted animation scene in Baden-Württemberg. The great variety of films produced by Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg cover the whole range from stop-motion to VFX; they are represented by five films, to include the 3D animation “Shine” which was awarded with the Short Tiger 2017, and the technically innovative graduation film “Ein Krötenlied”, which received the grand prize of SIGGRAPH 2017, “Best in Show”. Further surprising and entertaining films in the programme were developed by the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Media University, and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University. The programme also includes the successful series “Petzi” (“Rasmus Klump”) by internationally renowned Studio Soi in Ludwigsburg, and the short film “A little Fishy” by Studio Flox, which was made with a lot of paper and great attention to detail. The laconic animation “Zentralmuseum” was created by old pro Jochen Kuhn. An added bonus are the short, yet amusing festival trailers made by students of the Filmakademie.
