The programme of the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film

From April 24 to 29, 2018, Stuttgart will be the centre of animated films. Find here a overview of the programme of the 25th ITFS.

Short- & feature films

Innenstadtkinos

All films, in all cinemas: Here you will find short- and feature-length films, which run in the comeptitions or special programms. International competition, Tricks for Kids or Young Animation – be inspired by the latest films of the national and international animation scene.

Open Air Programme

Schlossplatz

Right in the center of the city we present animated films for the young and the old every day on a huge LED-Screen. The family program runs from 2 pm with animated short films and in the evening we show animated blockbuster und cult films at free entrance!

GameZone

Kunstmuseum

Welcome to the GameZone! The place, where game lovers of every age meet to play or talk about the latest gaming trends. Last year’s GameZone took place at Kunstgebäude right at the Schlossplatz. The motto was “Playful Art / Meaningful Games”.

Family & Kids

You will have the chance discover the exciting world of animated film with your children at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film. In workshops and while watching animated films: The whole family can enjoy!

ITFS as a guest at

Stuttgart will be the center of Animation in April. Offside the cinemas, you will have the chance discover a lot of things, too. While accompanyin us on a discovery journey you can visit all the exciting events around the topic animation!

Galas & Award Ceremonies

Red carpet feeling and being at close quaters when the desired Trickstars are awarded is possible at the galas and award ceremonies during the festival.

Music & Animation

Music meets animation! The ITFS shows in several programmes that music plays an important role in the animation. From classical opera music, to jazz or a thrilling concert!

School & studio presentations

Internationally renowned animation studios and universities are presented. You can take a look behind the scenes and learn about the latest news and insights from the experts! In addition screenplay workshops show how animation films are created.

Kitas & schools

See, understand, do it yourself! Especially for young kids and pupils from classes 1 to 6 the moderated short film programmes, supported by the vhs Stuttgart – Treffpunkt Kinder, offer the chance to dive into the exciting world of animation films. In complemented workshops they can get to know the first steps of producing an animation film.
