Chad VanGaalen

Thursday, April 26, 2018, Club Manufaktur, Schorndorf, 8.30 pm

The Canadian multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and animator Chad VanGaalen is represented with several program points at the 25th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) and presents his work to the German audience for the first time. The musician from Calgary not only produces and writes his albums, he also plays all the instruments himself and designs the artwork of his albums. He accompanies his folky-melancholic noise pop with a voice that sometimes reminds of David Byrne and Neil Young. If he is not writing songs on his own, he produces music for TV shows, designs dolls for Adult Swim, makes music videos or records albums, including for Women and Alvvays.

As part of the 25th ITFS, he presents his animations, music videos and illustrations to the German public for the first time. An exhibition of his animated film “Tarboz” can be seen from April 18 to June 9, 2018 in the gallery b of the Stuttgart City Library.
