The new music competition New World Classic Animation Award is aimed at animation students at international institutions of higher education for film, art and the media and honours the best use / the best implementation of music in an animated short film. For this purpose, music label Bechstein Classic makes five pieces of music from its portfolio available, either for use as an integral part of an animated short film or for direct visualisation. The licence is free of charge in conjunction with a submission of the film to ITFS20. The award carries a value of 2,500 €. The call for entries will be published on www.ITFS.de on October 16, 2019. The deadline for entries is March 01, 2020.

How to proceed?

  1. Please read carefully the regulations.
  2. Choose and download one or more tracks and the licence agreement here.
  3. Complete the licence agreement and send it back to:

  4. Make/complete your film.
  5. Submit your film to ITFS 2020 using the official application form.

The Trickstar Business is an animation industry’s business prize which will be awarded during Animation Production Days (APD) 2020 by the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS).

The Trickstar Business Award is worth 7,500 € and recognises national or international innovative and groundbreaking business models for projects or companies in the animation industry. This makes Trickstar Business the world’s first animation prize to be explicitly focused on business. The prize is being sponsored by the Verband Region Stuttgart.

International teams take up the challenge to make an animated short fi lm involving
Trixi, the Festival mascot within 48 hours. The Crazy Horse Session is carried out in
cooperation with M.A.R.K.13 electronic media and supported by MFG Film Funding
Baden-Württemberg and the Landesanstalt für Kommunikation Baden-Württemberg.

Award for the animation-based computer game from Germany with the best visual
design and aesthetics in the amount of 5,000 Euro, sponsored by MFG Medien- und
Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH. Call for entries: November.

This award aims to promote excellent screenplays in German or English language for
feature-length animated fi lms.

Those who want to rise to the challenge of developing interactive experiences within 34 hours to accompany, emphasise, and enrich the live performance of a chamber orchestra, can now apply for the ITFS 2020 Music Game Jam. From all applications received, we will select five teams of up to four persons each for participation.

The Chamber Music Game Jam is organised by the ITFS in collaboration with Chasing Carrots and the Film Commission Region Stuttgart, and results from a new cooperation with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester (SKO). The competition places classical music at the centre of a game idea. This year the Music Game Jam has the theme “timbres”.
