Aleppo, the home of six-year-old Dounia, is an ancient city full of mystery and magic. Yet Dounia’s life is still defined by her friendly neighbours and the stories they share, the delicious smells in the souks and her grandmother’s wonderful dishes.
But then Dounia and her grandparents must flee the war across the dangerous sea to find a new home in another country. In a sensitive way and with richly imaginative visuals, the film tells the story of war, flight and parting from the perspective of a child, and of the hope for a new life.
Recommended for children aged 8 years and older. The film will be dubbed live in German language in the cinema.
A few nigella seeds tucked in the palm of her hand, 6-year-old Dounia leaves Aleppo with the Princess of Aleppo’s help and travels towards a new world.
