AG Kurzfilm

The German Short Film Association – with members including film festivals, film and art schools, short film distributors and sales companies, as well as film industry institutions – is the representational and lobbying body for German short film. Its ambition is to improve the public awareness of German short film both nationally and internationally. In this regard, the association functions as a service centre for makers and producers of shorts, as well as for various short film institutions, and as a contact source on German short film for political bodies, the film industry, cinemas and festivals.

Animafest Zagreb

Animafest Zagreb is a place of inspiration, creativity, exchange of ideas, innovation, communication and international diversity. Z… is for Zagreb!

The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, established in 1972, is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. Launched thanks to the global reputation of the filmmakers sprung from the Zagreb School of Animation, founded based on the decision of ASIFA, International Animated Film Association, Zagreb Film production company and City of Zagreb, Animafest Zagreb takes place every year early in June.

Animakom Fest – Bilbao International Animation Community Festival

Many of us thought that this pandemic would not especially affect the animation industry, whose workers and artists often do their work from home. But it is doing it: here in the Basque Country there are productions that have stopped and although some studios and schools continue to work online, something is missing, something that is always essential for the animation community: the human contact. What the festivals guarantee and what helps to face the solitary work in front of the screen.

Animateka International Animated Film Festival

Animateka is an international festival that focuses on high quality auteur animated film. Every december it presents the peak production of short animated films from Central and Eastern Europe in our main competition programme, a programme comprising the most original European student films and a programme of carefully selected international films for children and teenagers. Each year it presents various special programmes as well. Either the best contemporary works from all parts of the world, a historical glimpse at different countries, animation techniques or other topics. From the very beginning Animateka holds national premiere screenings of a selection of the newest animated feature films. Audiences of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a rich film programme and also an abundance of events such as talks with authors, masterclasses, round tables, a regional pitching session (all within the industry-oriented platform AnimatekaPRO), workshops, exhibitions, concerts and informal gatherings. Animateka’s goal is to be a focal point where professionals from both the region and the world can meet, to create collaborations and co-productions, and at the same time attract the interest of the local public and get them to fall in love with the art of animated film.

Animatex

Animatex is an animation festival and an online portal with a focus on bringing all the artists working in the animation industry in Egypt together.We aim to be the go-to platform, online and offline, for everything related to animation in Egypt, and a space to showcase all the aspects and constituents of the animation arts, to facilitate networking and collaboration between these various constituents and -in time- to drive the animation art field in Egypt to international levels.animatex is one of the selected projects for support in the framework of the Open Call of the “Euro-Egyptian Cultural Programme 2019-2020” (EECP) and the programme is funded by the European Union Delegation to Egypt in cooperation with the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC).

Banjaluka International Animated Film Festival

Banjaluka International Animated Film Festival represents historical continuity of film animation which has its roots in the May Animated Film Festival in 1971. During past 12 years the most important national cinematography of animated films were represented (Poland, Russia, Canada, Great Britain, France), program featured representatives of the most important regional and worldwide animated film festivals and famous animators worldwide. Festival consists of Main competition program for adults and children and Accompanying programs.

Cartoon Media

CARTOON is an international, non-profit association based in Brussels. It organises Cartoon Forum; Cartoon Movie; Cartoon 360; and the Cartoon Masters training seminars.

Cartoon Forum is a pitching and co-production forum for animated TV projects. At the upcoming edition, producers will have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of 950 broadcasters, investors and other potential partners from 40 countries. Staying optimistic and focused, we hope to offer a safe on-site edition where all professionals will be delighted to see each other again!

Cartoon Movie is a co-production forum for feature-length animation, mainly for cinema, with around 900 participants.

Cartoon 360 is a pitching event dedicated to cross-media animation projects, while Cartoon Masters offers three training seminars for European industry professionals.

Etiuda&Anima International Film Festival

The International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima, organized in Kraków since 1994, is the oldest film festival in Poland which juxtaposes the achievements of students of film and art schools from all over the world, as well as works of fine-art animation films creators: professionals, students, as well as independent producers.

The main events of every annual festival are the two contests which give the festival its name, and during which the following prizes are awarded: in the student competition (ETIUDA), comprising feature and documentary etudes, the Golden, Silver and Bronze Dinosaurs; in the anima contest (ANIMA), Golden, Silver and Bronze Jabberwocky, as well as the Special Golden Jabberwocky for the student creating the best animated etude of the festival.

Since the beginnings of the Festival, the main points of the programme are accompanied by a vast range of other events. They provide a chance to get acquainted with world-class animation artists and the most interesting phenomena of this sphere of art. The accompanying events provide a chance to recall the most interesting works in the history of cinema, especially animations and documentaries. They also enable to get acquainted with contemporary short films and feature animated films which don’t reach the mainstream.

Fantoche

Fantoche is the most important animation film festival in Switzerland and one of the most distinguished events for animated film in the world. It takes place annually in September in Baden / Switzerland. The festival appeals to professionals as well as to a broad audience.

Each year Fantoche organises an international, a Swiss and a children’s film competition for animated short film productions. The annually changing themes in focus, which are developed in collaboration with curators, also offer space for new multimedia and interactive forms of animation. Fantoche cooperates with international festivals and cultural institutions and is involved in cultural education throughout the year. The 19th edition will take place from 7 – 12 September 2021.

Filmfest Dresden

Französische Filmtage Tübingen-Stuttgart

are the largest showcase of Francophone cinema in Europe and this year, for the 37th time, will present the latest feature-length and short films, exciting retrospectives, school cinema films, homages and Ciné concerts in Tübingen, Stuttgart, Reutlingen and Rottenburg. With over 16,000 visitors annually, the French Film Festival is a successful public festival that builds cultural bridges between Germany and the French-speaking countries beyond the medium of film with an attractive supporting programme and numerous guests from all over the world. For many years, the FFT has been highly regarded by the international film industry thanks to the awarding of attractive film prizes.

The festival has thus established itself above all as a springboard for young, as yet undiscovered francophone cinema. The International Competition and the French Competition enable the audience to see the latest productions promptly in a stimulating festival atmosphere and to discuss them with the guests.

London International Animation Festival

The London International Animation Festival proudly showcases the whole spectrum of creative animation, showing that animation is for everyone. Founded in 2003, LIAF aims to dispel the popular misconception that animation is just cartoons for kids by screening the broadest possible range of intelligent, entertaining and provocative current films on offer from all around the world as well as retrospectives and specialised sessions from countries and animators who don’t normally elicit such attention.

O!PLA Festival

O!PLA Festival (existing from 2013) is the largest animation film festival in Poland, with almost 22.000 Jury members (only viewers), almost 140 festival venues located between the Baltic Sea and the Tatra Mountains, presenting more than 100. shorts each year, divided into 9 categories – these numbers briefly outline the specifics of the most unique and completely grassroots biggest Polish celebration of animated film. O!PLA was the first film festival in Poland reorganized themselves during quarantine, and start to be on-line. The quarantine gave O!PLA a lot of inspiration. Thanks to an online existence, the festival could reach more people, not only from Poland. People could watch and vote online. We inaugurated with the new cycle „O!PLA LIVE, but from home… , where I meet with the directors/animators/screenwriters/musicians and talk about the process of creation. This is one of the most important positive effects of the pandemic, paradoxically.

Stuttgarter Filmwinter

34th Stuttgart Film Winter – Festival for Expanded Media

For over 30 years, the festival has been dedicated to the border crossings of cinema, media and net art with an experimental international programme of films, workshops, the Expanded Media exhibition and performances. The core of the festival are the international competitions for short film, media in space and network culture flanked by an extensive programme spanning all generations.

The festival is both a meeting place for experts and professionals as well as a festival for the audience. The festival’s aim is to bring innovative and challenging forms of cultural expression and complex artistic and technological issues closer to a wider public in a playful way.
