Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed (Prince Ahmed’s Adventures) – Matinée with the band Trioglyzerin

Fitting for the almost 90th anniversary of Lotte Reiniger’s silent film classic, on 1 May a filmatic musical matinée will take place: ‘Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed’ are musically accentuated by Trioglyzerin, known as a band that puts silent films to music. The silhouette film, which premiered on 2 May 1926 and was inspired by stories from The Arabian Nights, went down in film history as the first animated film lasting an entire evening. The filmatic work of art inspired live musical accompaniment – and the ITFS has given it a forum: With its music, Trioglyzerin creates the acoustic theatre atmosphere of ‘back then’: Ulrich van der Schoor plays piano, Kristoff Becker plays cello and Tobias Becker plays the oboe, expanded by synthesizers that create a background noise and tone collage.
