Festival Garden

Our festival program offers a lot of film and fun for the whole family! On the large LED cinema screen, you can daily watch the most beautiful animated short films to laugh, astonish and dream.

All around our partner’s action areas there are several hands-on activities to be discovered. And if you get hungry during all this open air animation, don’t worry: The Festival garden is topped off with a large selection of meals and drinks.

In the GameZone Kids, which is supervised by the ComputerSpielSchule and the Stuttgarter Jugendhaus Gesellschaft, children and young people can daily discover the gaming world and play together. From tournaments to workshops exciting activities take place daily. It’s worth to have a look!

For all those who want to delve deeper into the subject of animation, the first ITFS Children’s Animation Academy offers plenty of opportunities: On four days of the Festival week in five interrelated workshops, participants develop and produce a stop-motion film, supported by professionals: from story and character development to sound design and the finished animation.

GREENBOX WORKSHOP (FOR CHILDREN AGED 11 AND OLDER)

The participants go on a journey in the world of visual effects (VFX) and check out what can be done with the GreenBox.

SOUND DESIGN WORKSHOP (FOR CHILDREN AGED 11 AND OLDER)

Here, it’s all about noises, sounds and music! Under the guidance of a sound designer, the children will produce the score and sounds to accompany an animated film.

The workshop gives an introduction to telling a story with pictures – with or without text. The focus is on planning, structure and exercises in making animated stories or sequences, page layouts and figures. With Davor Bakara. Participation of this two-day workshop is free of charge.

FRI, 03.05., 3 – 6 PM // Jugendhaus Mitte

Would you like to discover the possibilities of augmented reality with your smartphone? This workshop gives you the opportunity to bring Trixi the mascot to life with a new AR tool and visit her in the virtual world. Afterwards you can develop your own gadgets for Trixi – in reality. Perhaps you’ll turn Trixi into a pegasus, or a unicorn?

The workshop is free of charge. Maximum number of participants: 15 persons

The smartphones are provided by WissensWerkstatt Zollernalb.

THU, 02.05., 3 – 6 PM // Jugendhaus Mitte

Mascot Trixi takes a trip to virtual reality and you can join her. There you will meet many of Trixi’s friends known from films and videos. After your tour of discovery you will get to learn how such film characters are created – and you will have the chance to develop your own.

The workshop is free of charge. Maximum number of participants: 15 persons

The ITFS as guest at Wilhelma Zoo

SAT, 04.05. + SUN, 05.05., 10 AM + 3 PM // Wilhelma

Together with Wilhelma zoo educators, the participants visit the exciting world of animals at the Wilhelma. Is a sloth really just hanging around on a tree? Why do cockroaches hiss? What does a pelican have for breakfast? Following the exploration tour, the children will bring their own animal stories to life in a stop motion film with the help of the Animated Mobile Team.
