Lights out, roll it!

The world’s best films in one festival week: In five competitions we screen animated short and feature films and show you a world you’ve never seen before. In addition to the cinema thrills, you can also meet the people behind the films and find out more about their motivation and working methods during the festival week.

The ITFS is one of seven Oscar-qualifying festivals for animated film. Who wins the Grand Prix of the International Competition in Stuttgart automatically qualifies for the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

International Competition

We show the best current shorts from all over the world, powerful films by young women, modern male perspectives, and confront life’s big questions. Who am I? Where do I come from, where do I belong? Socially relevant and personal topics innovatively visualised, without filters or taboos.
