The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), supported by the Institut Français Germany, is showing a colourful variety of French animated films by strong women to mark International Women’s Day. The selected films show different themes and narrative styles, ranging from classic cartoons to 3D animation and puppet animation.
In THE SOLOISTS, for example, the selection focuses on courageous women who oppose state and religious oppression. In LE JARDIN, director Marie Paccou tells us about growing up and first love affairs. In other films, women talk about their families’ experiences of flight and come to terms with their cultures of origin.
