This presentation will cover the conceptual and artistic journey of the feature film “Sultana’s Dream.’ It starts with the discovery of the book and spans the evolution over the years to its final outcome. At its core were a series of workshops conducted in India, involving women of all ages, to explore the relevance of the feminist utopia that the author of the original short story, “Sultana’s Dream” described more than a century ago. It will also emphasize the strategies for sustaining motivation throughout these years. All these elements are crucial to the narrative fabric of the work, where life and fiction run parallel.
