From initial concept, to the final frame, LAIKA’s animated films uniquely blend stop-motion with spectacular visual effects. Throughout the filmmaking process, the studio diligently captures nearly every precious moment of the artistry. Join LAIKA’s Mark Shapiro as he delves into the past, present and future of the award-winning studio based in Oregon (USA). Using rarely-seen timelapses and eye-opening vignettes, Mark will take us back to the roots of LAIKA’s Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012) and The Boxtrolls (2014). He will also briefly discuss the studio’s next work: Kubo and the Two Strings, due in theaters on August 2016.
